I am a passionate knitter, designer and fiber artist living in Whitefish, Montana. It was love at first sight when my husband and I first visited Montana several years ago and we instinctively knew that we would return to make it our home. We took the plunge, settled in Whitefish and never looked back.
My art background is an eclectic mix of things I Love. I have worked in the restaurant field as a pastry chef , studied at the DeCordova Art School in Boston, worked in the floral design field in Los Angeles and taught workshops in calligraphy. My one true love, however, has always been in the field of fiber art
I became intrigued with free-style creative knitting and often found myself asking, ‘suppose I ignore the pattern and try this idea instead?’ From that point on I was hooked exploring new and unusual ways to knit with color and texture. As a fiber artist, I’ve tried to reflect this creative freedom both in my art and garment designs.
Since I recently began my fiber art business, ‘Strands’, I’ve been fortunate enough to have my fiber art pieces locally exhibited in Buffalo Gallery in Bigfork as well as The Purple Pomegranate Gallery in Whitefish. I’ve also participated and been a featured fiber artist both in the Whitefish and Bigfork annual Artwalks. Currently, I’m enrolled in the TKGA Master Class knitting program and continue to pursue my love for creating original and unique knitting designs.
I believe we are all naturally creative and sometimes just need a little nudge toward releasing our ‘inner Frieda’. If you’ve never experienced the fun of letting go and ‘knitting outside the lines’, then I hope I get the opportunity to meet and encourage you to try!
